Liverpool '23, Days 5-6: You'll Never Walk Alone

From London, we traveled to Liverpool, where we met my brother and nephew to watch a Liverpool vs. Everton match. Marshal has been a fan of Liverpool fútbol for about a decade, so seeing this match fulfilled a dream he’s had for quite a while! ♥️

The night before the match, we went to the LFC store to buy Liverpool merch. Jude and Marshal both got customized jerseys, or “kits”.

Our Airbnb was on Saker Street, about a 5-minute walk to Anfield Stadium. In that neighborhood are beautiful murals of Liverpool players.

On the morning of the match, we made it a point to wake up early so we could explore the stadium and get some breakfast beforehand. Of course, I made my boys pose for a handful of photos while we walked around the stadium. ♥️

We stopped at Arkles before the match for some drinks and breakfast. It felt like stepping into a scene straight out of Ted Lasso.

Marshal made friends with an older gentleman, Tommy, and his son, Mark. They have been going to Liverpool home games since 1968!

On the walk to our seats

Before the stadium started to fill up

Okay … we knew we had nice seats, but we didn’t realize just how close we were to the field until we arrived! As much as we were hoping that Liverpool would score while on our end, they didn’t end up scoring until the second half, when they were on the other end. But still, amazing, once-in-a-lifetime seats!

The fans of Everton, the opposing, rival team, were seated directly behind us. Throughout the game, the police were positioned between us and the Everton fans. In the first photo, I’m all smiles, and the second photo shows a bit of nerves, as those boys were getting angry and scary! 😆

Here’s us celebrating the second goal, scored by Mo Salah.

The weather was pretty perfect, and so beautiful, during the entire game. We saw both sunshine and a little bit of rain.

Here’s one of my favorite photos of Marsh from our entire trip. 🥰
