Sunriver Thanksgiving 2020
We usually spend our Thanksgiving dinner, my favorite event of the year, with the Wetteraus, though of course, we couldn’t carry through with those plans this year. To celebrate Thanksgiving 2020, Marsh and I joined my parents at an isolated cabin in Sunriver, Oregon.
The Sunriver Village was mostly shut down, but we were able to enjoy the walking/biking paths, play board games, and eat delicious Thanksgiving food as a family.
I just love these winter wonderland photos! ❄️If you can believe it, they were taken just by sticking my hand out the window as Marshal drove through the pass.
Every time we drive to Sunriver, we stop at the Peter Skene Ogden State Park. Growing up, I knew this rest stop simply as “Ogden Cliff”, but back then, there was no additional bridge to walk on to get a view of the older bridge. It’s a beautiful spot and a must-see if you’re in that Central Oregon area.
Our cute cabin!
Marsh started chopping down wood basically as soon as we arrived. In typical Marshal fashion, he was shirtless within just a few minutes of the task! 😆
Our Thanksgiving spread 😋
I devoured this exact plate for at least 4 days straight.
After Thanksgiving dinner, my mom and I went on a nice (icy) walk.
The next day, I insisted that we get a nice Christmas photo for this year’s Christmas cards. (My mom and Marsh were real troopers about it.) Dressed in our Santa hats, we arrived at the lodge ready for a holiday photo shoot! 🎄
Mostly because of the time of day we went (with the strong sun), I didn’t love any of our posed Christmas photos. So, we used the photo below which was taken at a different time in the lodge for our Christmas cards.
On our last full day there, we all went on a long bike ride, just like we used to do when I was little (though this time, Marshal was along for the ride).
👀 We spotted a hungry coyote
Our last stop, on the last night, was to Goodies for some peppermint ice cream! 🍦
